Take Your Healing Today

How does our faith take all that belongs to us? We take everything straight from the Word of God. Faith takes the Word into our eyes, puts it into our ears, gets it into our hearts,we believe it and speak it into our situations.

That’s the way faith takes everything. You can’t take the Word by faith and then go around talking unbelief. The Bible says,“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34,NKJV)

If the words that come out of your mouth are not in agreement with the words in the Bible – the truth – there’s a breakdown somewhere between your eyes and your mouth. So you simply stay on the Word – reading it,hearing it,meditating on it in your heart, and letting it change what you believe until what you speak and how you act line up with it. That’s when your faith can reach out and take what belongs to you.

It’s that simple.

You don’t need a miracle cure. God has already provided the miracle cure in the Lord Jesus. He’s provided everything you and I will ever need for an everlasting, abundant, whole and healed life. It belongs to you because of what He did. It belongs to you just because God loves you and He desires above everything that you take all He has given – that you take your healing!

Children And Parents

Ephesians 6:1-4

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

1Children,you belong to the Lord, and you do the right thing when you obey your parents. The first commandment with a promise says, 2“Obey your father and your mother, 3and you will have a long and happy life.”

4Parents,don’t be hard on your children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord.

Watch Your Words

Charles Knowlton A prominent citizen and I shook hands on a deal to buy my house,as I was preparing to be transferred to another area. A smile of relief was on my face.  But my relief disappeared a few weeks later, when I found that nothing had been done to keep our deal. By that time,I had already been transferred, and had acquired another house.

I had been taught that among honest people a handshake is an honored bond. I had to learn the hard way that not everyone lives up to this code.

In school,as young Americans,we all learned about “Honest Abe” Lincoln, and we were taught that George Washington would not tell a lie about chopping down the cherry tree. American history is filled with examples of men and women of integrity, who were determined to keep their word. Sadly,in a short few decades,it seems that many have forgotten—or have never been taught—the value of integrity. What our society has reaped from this is a way of life full of uncertainties and stresses.  It is small wonder that so many do not keep their promises to God at baptism,or to their mate in the marriage vows.

I am reminded of the words of a poem someone sent to me:

Supposing today was your last day on earth,

The last mile of the journey you’ve trod;

After all of your struggles, how much are you worth,

And how much is your word worth to God?

God has given us this life to build character, and the integrity of our words and our actions is what character is all about.  The Bible has a lot to say about the value of our words:“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” (Proverbs 25:11). Our words and promises to others,as well as our meditations to ourselves, are of great importance in God’s eyes.

The poem I mentioned above ends with these lines:

We are only supposing,

But if it were real and we invoiced our deeds since our birth,

And we added up all that we’ve done in life’s deals,

How much are we really worth?

Today,we live in a world where practically everyone wants to be his or her own person.  Commitment and obligation are just not part of their value system.  In the book of Proverbs,we read some sobering truths about how God views the words we say and the promises we make:  “These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:  a proud look,a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil,a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren” (Proverbs 6:16-19).

Our words either honor us or condemn us. They are worth watching, and they shape our deeds.  Many of today’s problems can be traced right back to a disregard for or a lack of commitment to truth. To learn more, watch our telecast “Act on the Truth” or read our article,“What Happened to the Truth?

Jesus Has No Opinions

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing.
Matthew 7:15a

Recommended Reading
1 John 4:1-4

“Jesus does not offer an opinion,”wrote A. W. Tozer,“for He never uttered opinions. He never guessed; He knew, and He knows. His words are not as Solomon’s were, the sum of sound wisdom or the results of keen observation. He spoke out of the fullness of the Godhead, and His words are very Truth itself.”1

Our world has lots of opinions, and most of them are wrong. In an increasingly secular society,we must guard against false teachers both inside and outside the church. Evolutionary theory saturates our scientific community. Humanism frames our laws and judicial decisions. Professors and educators exclude God and discriminate against Christian teachers. The entertainment industry churns out moral propaganda like ancient Rome. Popular preachers export a diluted message. And even our busses and subway cars declare there is no God.

Jesus warned that false teachers would dominate the last days. But secular opinion cannot withstand divine truth. And Jesus is very Truth itself. It is important to know Him and study His Word. How much more do you know Him today than you did yesterday? Know Him and study His Word.

It is well that He spoke…and it is good that we listen. His words are the essence of truth.

A Place Of Peace

Richard A. Wilson (guest columnist)
The Bible tells us that at the end of this age,“many shall run to and fro,and knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 4:12). Those words certainly seem to ring true in our present, modern life style where so many are traveling all the time and new discoveries in technology, science and, even in the humanities, seem to overwhelm us almost hour by hour. Is life too busy?

Being able to take a time-out,to catch our breath,or to simply sit and smell the flowers—to listen to natural sounds and to let our minds go “free”—just doesn’t happen much anymore.

I can still remember,as a child, riding my bicycle through the neighborhood in the evening when there were always people sitting or swinging on their porches or in their yard. It was part of their ritual at the end of the day. Sitting or simply swinging—taking a time-out—to listen to the quietness or to watch the shadows lengthening toward supper time. It was their time to relax,to enjoy the moments,in stillness and silence.

We can say what we want about the “busyness” and “fullness” of life, today. Yet,there are many like me who will not be convinced that our lives, today, are better or more complete than they used to be. The fact is,our lives today are often missing the important ingredients that used to make life worth living.

In this regard,Jesus Christ set a great example for us.

In a short span of time,His fame grew. He went to and fro teaching, preaching and healing. Even so,He was wise enough to find some private time for Himself to pray and find solitude,to reflect on His faith in God and the reason why He was on the earth. Scripture describes,“However, the report went around concerning Him all the more;great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. So,He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed” (Luke 5:15-16).

As Scripture shows us in several places,Christ knew the value of taking a “time-out” from the business of the day,to spend some alone time to pray and meditate.

In today’s world, going to and fro and “doing and doing and doing” is a given. We seem to jump from one activity to another. We eat on the run,we work on the run,we do recreation on the run—taking no time to stop. No time to just sit. To listen. To feel. To search our hearts. Yet,Jesus often spent time doing exactly that.

People around us continue to gear up for a faster way of living,to get things done. But are they happy? No. Most would have to admit that their lives are empty,over-laden with work with no time for themselves.

My advice:find a porch or a lawn chair and sit. Turn off all electronic devices, including the television. Put the music boxes away and go outside, find a chair or a swing and settle in a place of solitude. Hear yourself breathe as you listen to the wind whistle through the trees or dance across the open ground. Do as Jesus Christ did. And do it often.

Jesus said,“Come to Me,all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest. For My yoke is easy and My burden light” (Matthew 11:28-29).

A balanced outlook on life is one that is not always in a hurry to go to a particular place and do some structured activity. Take time to appreciate the sounds of solitude.  For more on finding balance in your Christian life, read our article,“Are You Walking in the Footsteps of Christ?

Praise Report

We want to tell you of how God has blessed us…

Jeff is 60 and Penny is 59 and we are blessed. You know that we are a small ministry (Just the two of us) and God has been with us every step of the way for 20+ years.

The latest story is that In the last two years Jeff has had three strokes. As of February  2010 the doctors said that 90+% of the people die from the kind of stroke he had.  They could not operate or even have the knowledge to fix Jeff. God took care of him so he could continue to work the ministry. Jeff had two more strokes this year,(the enemy is trying hard) But God had other ideas, and He took away the paralysis (whole left side) two times (doctors still scratching their heads).

We contacted a wonderful Company  that helps people with clogged artery’s and heart problems, they have a product that has helped people for years  “Angioprim” The Lord had us talk to “Bill”in this company, the product that would fix Jeff was to expensive  for us. Bill understood completely, because of the type of work we do for the Lord, and not affiliated with any organization, with means self-supporting,Bill helped us so Jeff could get well and go back to work for the Lord. We are excited because of the good people in this world. We have not asked for anything for our ministry for years. The Lord will “Bless”Bill &His family and His company. We want to say publicly Thank You!!  The Angioprim is working and Jeff is getting back to his old self. The Lord still has work for us to do and we are so thankful.

My Web-Master says that there are several thousand readers on this web-site so if any of you need help like Jeff did…click on the “links”—they will help you.

Ps.    Jeff almost died in the Hospital, and God changed all of the events for good.      Praise The Lord!!!    Always trust in the Lord.     He Loves Us.

Think

Use Knowledge Rightly

Adam J. West

Some want to know it all when it comes to the Bible. Having a right and balanced desire to learn and grow in scriptural knowledge is good. It can help us grow in our relationship with our Creator. But this same desire becomes lopsided when the emphasis is on trying to understand subjects where God has purposefully withheld key details,or where the Bible is simply silent. As we seek to learn more about God and His way of life,we need to learn how to seek and use knowledge rightly. How can we do this?

The most important point to remember is to hold fast to what we can know with certainty. We should stick to the trunk of the tree. Those in the Living Church of God have been taught this concept for decades by faithful servants of God. It is a powerful reminder to “Prove all things;hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,KJV).

We are told in Scripture to remember those who have taught us the truth, and we are also instructed to remember what they have taught us. We capture their wisdom for our own. Paul tells the young evangelist Timothy, and also each of us,“But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of,knowing from whom you have learned them” (2 Timothy 3:14). Remembering our teachers helps us remain humble. We did not come into right knowledge by our own understanding. We had to be taught.

Those individuals who seem bent on knowing everything in the scriptures should recognize that while learning and studying Scripture is a vital part of our knowing the true God,and of knowing what He expects from us so we can maintain a healthy and positive relationship with Him,it is also vitally important to maintain balance in our thinking about the acquisition of knowledge. Some simply acquire knowledge for the acquiring alone, without regard for how it will be used.

The fact is,even if we had all the answers,we would not remember all of them anyway. God has made our human minds to require reminders and—thankfully—also to have the ability to forget some things. Our human minds are limited, and it is simply impossible to have all knowledge and also to retain and recall it perfectly. Yes,acquiring knowledge is good,as long as it is for a good purpose, with right motivation, and in proper balance.

Paul talked about knowledge in 1 Corinthians 13,the “love” chapter. “And though I… understand all mysteries and all knowledge… but have not love,I am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:2). If we lack the right motivation to acquire and use knowledge in a loving and edifying manner,we will fall short. While some subjects in the Bible make for interesting table topics, they may not be the kinds of things we should invest heavy thought or concern toward.

Instead, seeking to understand how we can, individually, become more loving, gentle, and caring individuals, more conformed to the image of God in character—that trumps the accumulation of knowledge every time!

Thomas Jefferson pondered accurately,“He who knows best knows how little he knows.” That humble approach to knowledge can truly go a long way in guiding our study of scripture. We can then be sure not only that we know things, and that what we know is right, but also that we understand how to use rightly what we know—to build up and edify one another and to obey God more fully in our daily lives. That is the purpose for gaining knowledge—always to share,to give,to love,to apply God’s knowledge rightly through daily living and obedience.

I Saw The Holy City

Revelation 21:2-4 New International Version (NIV)

2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

For The Lord Himself Will Come Down From Heaven

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (New International Version)

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God,and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 After that,we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

He Gave His Son

John 3:17 (The Message)

16-18“This is how much God loved the world:He gave his Son,his one and only Son. And this is why:so that no one need be destroyed;by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help,to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Let’s Just Be Nice

Listening and Doing

19Understand [this],my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener],slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry.

20For man’s anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires].

Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:18-20 (New International Version)

18 Then Jesus came to them and said,“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always,to the very end of the age.”

Mark 13:11 (The Message)

11“When they bring you, betrayed, into court, don’t worry about what you’ll say. When the time comes, say what’s on your heart—the Holy Spirit will make his witness in and through you. Isaiah 57:15-16 (New King James Version)

15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:“ I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble,And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

16 For I will not contend forever,Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would fail before Me,And the souls which I have made.

The Tower of Babel

Genesis 11 (Today’s New International Version)

1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

3 They said to each other,“Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said,“Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens,so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower they were building. 6 The LORD said,“If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

We Need No More Bible

6Thou fool, that shall say:A aBible,we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?

7Know ye not that there are more anations than one? Know ye not that I,the Lord your God,have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the bisles of the sea;and that I rule in the heavens above and in the cearth beneath;and I bring forth my dword unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?

8Wherefore murmur ye,because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the atestimony of btwo nations is a cwitness unto you that I am God,that I remember one dnation like unto another? Wherefore,I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two enations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.

9And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the asame yesterday, today, and forever;and that I speak forth my bwords according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one cword ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another;for my dwork is not yet finished;neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.

10Wherefore,because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my awords;neither bneed ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.

11For I command aall men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall bwrite the words which I speak unto them;for out of the cbooks which shall be written I will djudge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.

Finding Faith In Christ

Resurrection Bodies In Heaven

2 Corinthians 5:1-10 (The Message)

1-5For instance,we know that when these bodies of ours are taken down like tents and folded away, they will be replaced by resurrection bodies in heaven—God-made,not handmade—and we’ll never have to relocate our “tents”again. Sometimes we can hardly wait to move—and so we cry out in frustration. Compared to what’s coming, living conditions around here seem like a stopover in an unfurnished shack, and we’re tired of it! We’ve been given a glimpse of the real thing, our true home, our resurrection bodies! The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we’ll never settle for less.

6-8That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. Do you suppose a few ruts in the road or rocks in the path are going to stop us? When the time comes,we’ll be plenty ready to exchange exile for homecoming.

9-10But neither exile nor homecoming is the main thing. Cheerfully pleasing God is the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do,regardless of our conditions. Sooner or later we’ll all have to face God,regardless of our conditions. We will appear before Christ and take what’s coming to us as a result of our actions, either good or bad.

The Woman of Noble Character

Proverbs 31

10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;her arms are strong for her tasks.

20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;her husband also, and he praises her:

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
